#CheshireEast #theVoice Delighted to see Cheshire East singing the praises of our Children’s centres in this first edition of ‘The Voice’ magazine for residents! Our children’s centres are such a valuable resource in our community. This celebration of our centres is especially interesting in light of Cheshire East’s campaign, not so long ago, to start closing them. Keep up the great work everyone, keep going to the centres so we can pass this excellent resource on to generations to come.

At the Labour Party conference in Brighton, Shadow Education Secretary and long term supporter of the Sure Start campaigns Angela Rayner, has outlined Labours plans to reverse the £500 million cuts that Sure Start Centres have faced since 2010. This is a really interesting article in which she talks about her experience of Sure Start as a single mother.

We look forward to hearing the Conservatives plans at their up coming conference in Manchester later this week.

#Nantwich We are delighted to hear this news! It shows how important it is to save the assets and resources during times of cuts for when the political will returns to invest in them again. We are only sorry that so many great staff and years of learning, experience, and building relationships were lost over the last few years. Keep up the great work everyone, let’s get more grants and funding for all our schools and children’s centres.

Save the Activ8 sessions for disabled children in Cheshire East July 07, 2017 at 10:00AM

This week it has been brought to our attention that Everybody Leisure are planning on axing the Activ8 sessions held weekly at Playworld in Shavington and Fun4All in Macclesfield. These sessions are for children with disabilities and their families, specialist volunteers engage, supervise and encourage play and gives these special families the opportunity to access soft play which can be difficult. Not only does this enrich the lives of the children, it also allows parents and careers a brief chance to relax and meet other families who have the same challenges and share experiences whilst knowing that their children are in a safe and fun environment.
It has been announced by Everybody Leisure this week that these sessions will be cut at the end of July. This is yet another threat to the most vulnerable children and families in Cheshire East. Please read the full story on their page and support their campaign!
