Opinion: Tessa Jowell showed us how politics should be done. She walked through walls, and never gave up May 14, 2018 at 01:13PM

We were deeply saddened to hear of the death this weekend of Tessa Jowell, “the Mother of Sure Start”.

As Public Health Minister in 1997, she instigated the founding of Sure Start. Her empathy, family focus and belief in community strength should inspire us all to continue to fight and campaign to protect our services.

Rest in peace Tessa.

As perinatal health activists, we are delighted for all the women who safely managed the miracle of life today, yesterday, and everyday. It’s why we fight for all families to get the level of support that the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge get with their family from the state and the NHS. Congrats to all the mums and the teams that support them and keep them safe. #royalbaby

Children’s centres are disappearing – here’s what it means for the under fives and their parents April 16, 2018 at 06:19PM

We have lost up to 1000 Sure Start Centres have since 2010. Councils budgets are being slashed by central government and Sure Start Centres are being ‘rebranded’ under the guise of improvement, while the reality is closures and the reduction and withdrawal of services. We say “No more”!!!!!

#CheshireEast #theVoice Delighted to see Cheshire East singing the praises of our Children’s centres in this first edition of ‘The Voice’ magazine for residents! Our children’s centres are such a valuable resource in our community. This celebration of our centres is especially interesting in light of Cheshire East’s campaign, not so long ago, to start closing them. Keep up the great work everyone, keep going to the centres so we can pass this excellent resource on to generations to come.

Labour’s Angela Rayner to pledge £500m of Sure Start funding September 26, 2017 at 07:59PM

At the Labour Party conference in Brighton, Shadow Education Secretary and long term supporter of the Sure Start campaigns Angela Rayner, has outlined Labours plans to reverse the £500 million cuts that Sure Start Centres have faced since 2010. This is a really interesting article in which she talks about her experience of Sure Start as a single mother.

We look forward to hearing the Conservatives plans at their up coming conference in Manchester later this week.
